Hello everyone,
I'm an engineer living in Cork (mostly)
Got a Hilux at the minute and am building an overland vehicle. It's got bits and pieces from several sources; TACR 2 chassis; Discovery 2 axles;
And I'm looking for Landcruiser engine, gearbox, transfer box, propshafts, power steering, and heater. Also air con if I can get it.
Engine wise I'd like the last of the non-electronic 4.2 straight sixes with direct injection. I drove a LC in Africa with this engine and it was great.
Any and all comments welcomed. I think!!
Cheers

Welcome to the forum Pat,
Any photos of your Hilux?
Best of luck on your search for a 1hd, they come up on ebay the odd time.
Are you going with an auto or manual?

Preferably a manual.. If I could pull out the electronics and have a straight electrical over-ride to the solenoids so that I could use the auto like a paddle box I might do it. I've seen this done on surfs.
If I get a 1HD-FTE electronic pump motor I'll probably yank the pump and injectors and make it into a manual pump.
Although I'm an electronic engineer by training - and work at keeping electronics going in the back of beyond -- I don't want to be dependent on keeping all those sensors happy. A few solenoids and headlights are okay!

I'd be fairly sure you could control the later auto's from an 80 series 93+ like that.

It's a Holbrooke toolroom lathe from sometime in the sixties. I've got it cleaned up. Now sorting the electrics. Got it for 400 euro. :-))

fair play, looking forward to seeing it take shape, keep us up to date! keep an eye on gumtree belfast there are sometimes cruiser engines on it. ive a feeling sourcing one in the wild will be cheaper regarding those engines though.
