View Full Version : A late convert to Land cruiserism

I have converted from Landyism to Landcruiserism. Like all late converts, my faith and zeal may prove as strong or stronger than early acolytes. It is a bit like religion isn't it? My previous vehicle was a 40 year old S111 Landrover but leaf springs finally began to tell on me and the lure of comfort won out. Just bought a 1994 VX 4.2 diesel . This has an "old man emu" raising kit, TJM bull bars and a swing out spare wheel. It is currently silver but is about to go RAL 8000 to give it the military appearance that I like. It spent the last few days being brought up to speed mechanically, including various bearings, bushes and joints. All of the fluids and greases have been changed so I now have a base to progress from. Only 154 K Kilometres on the clock so relatively young. I have spent the day bringing it to the cleanliness level that I like. When it is resprayed I will post some pics. Looking forward to conversation and learning from the vast well of experience on this forum.

Bought in Ireland. I have added a sound system(Sony) which is a new experience in a jeep for me as it's predecessor was to noisy to even think about one!

Here is the Landcruiser in it's new livery. Some of you will like the colour and some will not. I do like driving this vehicle, whatever the colour!

It looks good. Seen a picture of it on facebook put up by the paint shop.
Is that a matt finish?

It is a mat finish, clear mat lacquer over the colour coats.

I like the dessert look. but would spray the rims matt black [to match bumpers and trim]or get steel ones and turn the tyres so the white wall dos'nt show.
My 2 cent worth. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the input. I considered doing that at the time I got the respray but decided to let it sit a while. I have not come to a conclusion yet. I may buy a set of steel rims, not easy in 18 Inch, and see what they look like.

Hi nice very nice 80. What make are those wheels?

I do not know. Originally this was a Jap import and I believe that the wheels came with the jeep from Japan. They had a boss covering the wheel nuts but it was so flash I had to take it off!

I finally got around to changing the wheels to black Modular rims, 16 inch with 285/75 Goodrich AT tyres. I think it looks better . The wheels and tyres I replaced, shown earlier in the tread are available for sale if any one is interested. 60136012
