Okay .hello every one . After registering , re registering and generally f#####g around I think I might be making progress . I've got a nice clean lj70 dry stored for a few years now . She's an 89 english import with 92000 genuine miles on the clock. Unfortunately she was converted to comercial before I bought her although it was well done I'd like to get her back to original spec . Had no intentions of going at it for a few more years The old skool Toyota run here in Cork prompted an itch ill attempt to scratch.

Welcome to the forum. Apologies, I may have been slow to discover your registration as my online time is limited atm. Does your 70 require any restoration or is it rust free. Rear glass and seats can be tricky to find.

Hi nailer. The body is in very good nick . She's been dry stored for the past four years but even so I reckon underneath needs a once over. I bought a donor jeep today as I needed a sunroof panel and roof cloth. My mate is organising a few skins to go to a run in wexford in October so Hoping to have her roadworthy by then. Brakes steering etc. I've three kids and 100 &1 other things to do so fingers crossed . Trying to put up a photo but can't resize the picture to send

Hi all got my lj70 back on the road again . Reconditioned alternator , freed out the brake calipers and changed a bushing and she sailed through the doe. Took her to wexford and back no problems . Been tipping around with it for a few weeks happy out until today when returning from work in bantry she boiled. Looks like head gasket hopefully not cracked head. Any advice would be appreciated

They are known to do head gaskets hopefully not Cracked.
whats the symtoms ? any oil in coolant? coolant in oil? get yourself a co2 leak detector dont think they are exspensive and easy to use.
would you chance taking head off yourself ? get it pressure tested if ok get it skimmed and new head gasket.

Yeah ill pull the head off it next week . I'll get the rad tested and flushed and I might as well get the injectors checked as I'm at it . Hopefully the head is ok . Thanks Adam

i cracked the head in mine so i decided to put in a 1kzte but i failed to wire it. if you could get your hands on a 1kzt it is a great engine in my opinion its better than 2lt.

Pulled the head off the cruiser this evening and yes the head gasket was blown. No need to pressure test the head . Scrap. Just wondering what would be a good engine replacement without being very time consuming
