hey there, pleased to find an Irish landcruiser site. jayzus its great being Irish, apart from the lack of jobs, faulty government ect, .

just back from living in the UK so im loving it at the mo. actually, i just drove to spain and back in my LJ78, not without issues, but we made it. theres something very wrong with my cooling system. im at odds whether to fix it, or just get another engine.

looking on donedeal and gumtree theres plenty of 1kz-te engines, but feic all 1kz-t engines. so im thinking try find a 1kz-t diesel pump and fit it to the TE engine.

this is proving difficult also though, i cant find a friggin pump either...

ill get some pics of my puppy up soon as i can find some.

hers it in its early days pulling my trashed niva out of a forest. poor niva. anyways, its blacker now, and its getting new shoes soon to make it blacker again.
the inside it gutted and an elaborate bed/storage system fitted, very custom soundsystem, and of all things its got a tank battery that kicks much ass

the inside is covered in fur... nearly. it looks like building site at the mo

the mechanal side is all standard. im fixing this up for extended trips, as such i cant abuse it offroad, i might have to buy another niva to hammer about in the mountains

the one above is in london just after some chap slip his car along my bodged bumper and ruined the car. he wasnt happy!

thanks Adam. i am fond of it. Murph standard coils all round. gonna have to beef up the rear suspension though theres some weight in the back. you should join tlocuk as well, great guys over there. what engine have you got? if its the 1kz then tlocuk is your man, if its the 2LTE then the Oz site http://toyotasurf.asn.au/forum/

is one of the best ive come across, as that engine is usually found in the hilux surf.

theres so many tho! ih8mud, toyotadiesel... the list goes on, all with total gurus on them, its great.

Welcome Redd, very nice looking 70.

I take it your 70 is 2l-te, I have been there with the overheating issues on them.
Have you replaced the head yet?

hey there Nailer, no, no i havnt. when it stops raining ill investigate the head. the way it is now itll keep going for ages i reckon, but to be honest its underpowered, the body is too heavy for the engine, so im thinking bigger engine.
sounds like a task, but i enjoy taking things apart so itll be fun as well as headwrecking )

I might at some stage, some good info over on it alright, that Roger dude seems to know his stuff and I like what that Jimbo fella is after doing with his cruiser aswell!

I have yet to get a landcruiser, just doing up a mk2 golf gti at the mo, she'll be for sale when I have her finished and hope to pick up a 70 series or similar after that!

Cheers Nailer. well Murph youll know what to look for anyway. i saw mine on donedeal and went, that looks big, ill get that! and there was no more thought to it. dunno if theres a whole lot of the kzj78's in Eire though? Jimbos got the optional diff locker on the back axle as well, nice.
thats presuming of course your going for the long wheelbase, i dont get shortwheelbase vehicles, but thats me.

Hi Redd, I've been on hiluxsurf.co.uk for 9 years and they've probably forgotten more than most will ever remember when it comes to overheating 2LTEs. I had one, never had an overheat with it, but thats no comfort if your new timing belt snaps the day you're selling it.
