Hi Guys

Greeting from Mid lands . I am big fan of early land criusers . I am software engineer by professional. i came to Ireland 2 years back.
I sold Land cruiser FJ45 before arriving here from middle east. i used drive it in desert .

I am looking to get 70 series 2 -door. most of them seem for commercial use
as far i check with my friends .. they say you cannot own commercial one until you have some business. and VAT number etc.

and non commercial difficult to find and i believe roadtax and insurance will be out of my reach as well.

i checked some 4x4 breakers . they have some old jeeps mostly rotten.. and repair is very high here ..

what is best way to own 70 series here in ireland :)

dont have picture of FJ45 yet .. same as mine.

Thanks & Regards

Hi Talha,

Welcome to the forum, the best way is to find an 85, 86 or 87 model as they are vintage or in the case of the 87 nearly. The tax and insurance will then be reasonable.

After that commercial is the way to go if it suits. The insurance will be expensive unless you can go for a classic policy which does not apply to commercial vehicles.
Classic is over 20 years old and you must have a modern car also insured.

It is, however if it was sold or imported as commercial, then private registration will add the cost of VRT as well as private tax.
