Just joined and wanted to say hello .. and ask a question .

I have a 1980 BJ40. Would love to do an engine swap for a newer engine. does anyone know what engines can be swapped to replace the BJ40. I have read lots of forums and there seems to be any number of answers. so maybe someone here might be able to help.
What I really would like to do is put in a 13b or 13bt and add power steering. Is there anyone that can do this work, I like to think I know something about engines, but actually i know nothing :)

I'm having a go at a similar machine, 1980 BJ41. Try this website;

It's a general faq site and covers engine swaps and what fits what, it is more focused on FJ series though. You should also look at IH8MUD but again mostly petrol FJ machines covered there.

thanks for reply, i've been thrawing those sites for ages now, a simple engine swap becomes a masive job the more you read :)

Given the reg, it is obviously an import, I'm assuming Japan? If so, is it possible it's a 41?

yes its an import and could well be a 41. Its was white and the last owner stripped it down and did a lot of body work and brought it back to the oribinal colour red. Runs very nice. I dont really like the colour or the wheels tbh. I had looked at importing from japan but the price for a half decent one was 6.5k min before any thing is done.
