Rear wheel bearings SWB 120 series.
Hello all. Changed both rear wheel bearings on my 2007 120 series about a year ago. Both had leaked oil from half shafts into handbrake shoes. These had to be changed also.
Just done a DOE recently and it failed on imbalance on handbrake. To my surprise oil is again leaking into the hub.
Anyone have similar trouble?

Your vehicle should not have been tested on rollers as it is permanent 4wd and it can damage the transfer case.
As for oil leaking again, possible seal damaged on installation or if the old seals were in bad shape for a long time the can wear into the shafts leaving a small groove will prevent the new seal from working effectively.

Thanks for your reply.
Not sure if its permanent 4wd??
However I do alot of towing with this jeep. Would this have impact of rear bearings?
Im thinking i might have to replace the half shaft if there is damage to the shaft. The bearing is hardly gone already in that short space of time.?

Unlikely the bearing is gone again. Towing would shorten the bearing life but not too dramatically.
Best thing is to have it checked by someone familiar with solid axles

Your 120 is definitely permanent 4wd.

Hi. Brendan here in cork. Not a land cruiser owner but a landrover discovery 2. Looking to go on days out in not too severe terrain just simple mud tracks or field days. If this is available I would love to take part. B
