Howdy All,
Glenn is me own name and im currently driving a Landrover Discovery (dont hate me lol) after being out recently and seeing what a standard swb 01 cruiser can do , the time is approaching to replace the Discovery and a LC is looking like a serious contender along with a Nissan Patrol , I want either a 70 or 80 series if its to be a cruiser but the 70 appears to be exceptionally rare in these parts judging from done deal anyway , ill be browsing around here from now on asking silly questions etc etc, also im involved in alot of off roading in cork so if any cork members fancy a day out feel free to pm me and ill sort something out, further more I dunno if there is a member from Tower Co Cork on here with a seriously impressive garage containing 1 overland preped 80 , 2 70s an a 01 Amazon (not sure what series they are :o ) pm me as ive been tempted to just knock at your door an ask can I drool over your cruisers for 10 minutes :p

Howya Glen,

70's aren't that rare if you'd like a 2.4, 3.0 are thin on the ground but can be found in the uk easy.
There is usually a couple of 80's on dd, the uk has loads.
Best of luck.

dont buy a long wheel base 2.4 lj78! lol. welcome along. the 4.2 y60 patrols are a beautiful machine also, esp the swb.
even the earlier 160 and 260's. im biased towards the box shape 4x4's though.
theyre often on the bay uk in good condition.

How are you Lad , long time no chat , fairplay on the morrocco trip , pics are brilliant, im going the passenger route if i can get a 70 but the 80 will be commercial tax is outrageously high on passenger ones bugger that, your 80 is lookin very well by the way.

Tax is outrageous either way, 2.4 will still cost a grand as a passanger, 1,400 on a 3.0 and 1,700 on an 80.

Hi Glenn, welcome to lcoc. Glad to hear you're "coming round" ;)

Not quite yet Gar but lets say im jap curious at the moment ;) your 70 would be exactly my kinda one now long wheel base and just the perfect amount of off road kit to make it useable every day , it is a credit to ya:cool:

Neil , ive decided I need a passenger model as the limits of a commercial became apparent to me in the last few months and i dont want a car and even if i did the tax on 2.0 is 660 and i wouldnt drive any smaller so its 1000 if keep the disco an buy a car all in for tax all the way , im willing to go up to 2.7 so a 2.4 70 would be ideal. an 80 is commercial though 1700 is bank breaking,

I mite call into him over the weekend his machines are bloody beautiful i almost got rear eneded i braked so hard to look at them :o

the 2.4 isnt powerful enough to haul the lwb body. its not the end of the world if you buy one, *i think* its a good engine and a lovely body, but youll kick yourself for so long as you have it, for not getting something meatier.

google 2lte cracked

Glenn, Redd is absolutely spot on, if you want a 70 forget about the 2.4 (LJ) and get yourself a 3.0 (KZJ). If you get the opportunity to drive both do so and you'll very quickly see what we mean.

You will look long and hard to find a KZJ though.
